  • The Study on "Pedagogy" Related to Training Excellent Teaching Professionals Based on Comparing with Different Countries

    Project Period (FY): 2019/04  -  2023/03  Investigator(s): Ikuta Kumiko

    Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research(B)  Co-Investigator  19H01633

This research focused on ‘the development of teaching professionals’ as the essence of pedagogy as an academic discipline, and analyzed the expertise that teaching professionals should possess from the four specialized areas of philosophy of education, educational thoughts, history of education, educational systems and administration, and educational practice. In addition, fieldwork was conducted in Japan, the USA, Italy, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries to examine practical issues in the training of ‘teaching’ professionals from an international comparative perspective. Through these studies, a new form of knowledge that reconstructs the ‘expertise’ of teachers from a conceptual level was clearly identified, and the elements necessary for ‘pedagogy’ to connect this new ‘knowledge’ with the practice of teacher development programs were presented.

  • A Study of Teachers' "Curriculum Awareness" in Unit Learning, Project-Based Learning, and New Subject Development

    Project Period (FY): 2017/04  -  2023/03  Investigator(s): Hatakeyama Dai

    Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists(B)  Principal Investigator  17K13992

This study analyzed trends in Japanese style unit learning, project-based learning, and new subject development as case studies. It then analyzed the perception of "curriculum awareness" held by schoolteachers involved in these educational practices. The following points could be clarified as a result of this study; (1) the nature of the concept of "curriculum awareness", (2) the reality of teachers' learning that promotes the formation of "curriculum awareness", and (3) the reality of teachers' "transformative agency" as a condition for creating "curriculum awareness".
